The first Max Cam conference, organised by the Max Planck – Cambridge Centre for Ethics, Economy and Social Change (Max-Cam), will be held from 11 to 13 December 2019. It examines labour relations in the twenty-first century and how they conflict with or strengthen the ethics of human freedom. Social discourses on this topic are frequently marked by extreme positions: on one side of the debate, work is interpreted as emancipatory; on the other, the wage labour system and all its neoliberal variants are seen as a threat to individual freedom and the democratic constitution of society. Please see the conference programme.
